So what is layering? Layering is a way to paste multiple items on your picture without destroying the original. Think of it as a scrapbook. You paste a photo onto it. Then you add ribbons and laces, even stardust perhaps to make it colorful. Photoshop is a lot like that.

As you can see from the above pictures, moving a layer will cause another layer to overlap the current layer.

If you want to disable a layer to see what it would look like without it, just uncheck the ‘eye’ from the layer.

Picture Borders - you can switch photos to a normal picture, set it with standard photo frame or even with a Polaroid border.

Background - set the color of your background, or just use one of the images to become a large background of your collaged photos.

Page format - as it says, format whether you want to put it as a monitor, export for A4 paper printing or even as a photo

Landscape/Portrait - set your collage in a landscape or portrait setting

Draw Shadow - add shadows to each of your photo

Show caption - if you have a caption on your photo, but you must use the Polaroid border

Nothing much here, you can auto scramble the collage, which move your photos placement randomly. Shuffle pictures on the other hand is more cooler because once you have the settings that you want but you don’t like how the picture are presented, you can shuffle them while keeping the placing intact.

1. First of all, chose the photo you want to resize. If you want to just resize one photo, then click once to select on the photo. For multiple photos (if you still haven’t figured out at this time), hold CTRL and click on the wanted the picture to select it.

2. Look at the bottom section of Picasa, you should see a row of icons. See the one with the folder that says Export? Click on that.

3. Here’s the magic. Select your size but by default, they’re at 800. They will usually resize the longest section of your photo. Means, if your photo is either on portrait or landscape mode, it will always choose the longest dimension and resize them to 800. Click OK and it will resize the photo(s) and pop up the folder with the resized photo(s).

The option for retouching is surprisingly very simple, allowing you to only adjust your brush size. Please take note that the max size brush is fixed, so if you use a 1920×1200 resolution picture, you have to expect that you brush would be smaller.

I didn’t realize that Picasa was updated with the latest version. You can imagine my surprise when I switch on my Picasa, it auto updates (mine is still on 2.0). So when it was done, I decided to take it for a spin, when I found they have finally added a ‘Add Text’ tool.

It has pretty standard feature with additional transparency built into it. Best of all you can even control the bolding, which is a BOLD move from Google.

You can edit/move/rotate your text which is pretty nifty!

And voila! The end product itself.

As a typical day begins, we continue our lives through the listless routines pressed upon us by the call of duty and responsibility. Countless traffic jams, unfriendly people and a demanding workload all contributes towards the drained, demoralized and weakened state of a typical soul. Sounds rather dismal and disheartening does it not?

However all hope is not lost, as they say, life is unpredictable and full of surprises. Pleasant ones for that matter that would every now and then spring out to catch us all with a very pleasant inducement. Look no further fellow kindred spirits, one such opportunity has arisen and is now poised to add color and spice into our very existence. What on earth am I talking about some might be asking? Well here is a hint, the Japs are once again at our shores poised and ready for another invasion of this nation of hours.

Hence get set and ladies and gentlemen for the Japan Super GT has once again returned back in town! Hip Hip Hurray! The long awaited yearly event could not be missed more and as they say, those who are patient shall be rewarded and rewarded indeed we have. So what is the Japan Super GT really all about and what is the big deal about it?
The 2009 Super GT season (officially known as the 2009 Autobacs Super GT Series for sponsorship reasons) will be the 16th season of the Japan Automobile Federation Super GT Championship. The cars are divided into two groups: GT500 and GT300 (cars with no more than 500 and 300 horsepower (374 and 224 kW), respectively). These power outputs are capped via the use of intake restrictors although some heavier cars are given allowances to run larger restrictors to maintain parity.

In order to ensure maximum excitement, both GT500 and GT300 groups are run at the same time although points are awarded separately for each group. All GT cars are painted with bright colorful schemes to attract the audience. The colour mix-match are creative and extraordinary just like how one would see in a typical Japanese produced sci-fi manga. The GT500 cars use white HID lamps while the GT300 cars can be spotted with yellow lamps.

Races are held as part of a yearly series. Races take place on well known Japanese race tracks like Twin Ring Motegi, Fuji Speedway, and Suzuka Circuit. The series was expanded to its first international venue in Malaysia (2000), and an exhibition race at the California Speedway (2004). The Malaysian leg of the race, held at Sepang International Circuit was made an official race from 2002 and counted in the points.

But is that really all there is to it? Guess again for we have yet to sample the icing of the cake. The Japan Super GT is not only famous for its high performance cars but more so for its bevy of beauties present in the form of Race Queens who accompany the drivers and their respective teams during the race. These Race Queens are the cream of the crop as they are literally beauty personified. Their captivating presence is further enhanced by their skimpy and eye catching costumes which never fail to attract the attention of all who are present. Top that up with a very friendly and lively personally, these fine young ladies could melt the heart of even the toughest guy on the street. And that’s not all, if one or two Race Queens can be such a breathtaking site, what about the effect of having literally dozens of them running around as each team would field their very best representatives on the day of the race.

There you have it ladies and gentlemen, this year as like previous years, Sepang has it all, super cars and even more super babes. So what are you waiting for? Make hast to make your way down to Sepang where all the action will be on the 20th and 21 of June 2009. Don’t miss it for the world as the promise land beckons.

Prepare to be thrilled and amazed at the loads of fun and excitement that the best of Malaysia and Japan has to offer. As fondly and aptly put by a past Race Queen, “Jumpa Di Sepang!”

Our last outing…

At long last, it has finally arrived. The event that is heralded and fondly referred to as the Rojak Studio event of the year is back to grace the blessed soil of Sepang. What could possibly arouse such excitement and eager anticipation you might ask? Well in case some of you have been spending the past 4 years on the far side of the solar system, we are referring to none other than the world renowned Japan GT 2007 which will be held at the Sepang International Circuit from 22-24 June 2007. Yes its true boys and girls, the Japs are back to take the country by storm reminiscing the historical moment when they first landed here back in 1941. Except this time they are warmly welcomed with open arms and cheerful faces.

How could anyone not be glad to see them? This year one can expect to witness up to 39 powerful and superbly modified renowned sports cars with stylish bodyworks and spirited graphics vying in the GT500 and GT300 classes for the top spot in the 4th round in the GT 2007 series. The series is currently the most popular racing event in Japan with an average attendance of up to 40,000 spectators for each round. While the race is filled every year with breathtaking maneuvers and intensive bumper to bumper non-stop heart pounding action, the excitement is further enhanced by the presence of the ever popular and famous umbrella-toting girls who are also known popularly as Race Queens.

Yes you heard me right folks, expect to see up to 100 of these lovely and extremely cute and sexy women parading themselves for all to see during the three day event. Skimpily attired, friendly, polite, sweet and exceptionally responsive to cameras, these gorgeous women who personify the best the East has to offer is truly a joy and dream come true for every portrait photographer. Hence the keen interest by Rojak Studio members and the sheer determination possessed by some in striving not to miss the event in Sepang. This year would be a historic moment as 17 photogs from the studio would be going down to take Sepang by storm. With the spirit of brotherhood shared by a common passion in photography coupled with the alluring grace and beauty of some of Japan’s finest maidens, it is no wonder why RS members are impatiently counting down the days leading down the road to Sepang.

The weather in Sepang would be a tremendous difference compared to the cool and pleasant environment of Japan as over here one can expect to be scorched by the relentless blazing hot sun, the intolerable humidity and drenched by the unexpected sudden heavy down pour. Without a doubt the hostile climate would take a toll on both man and machine. However fret naught, if there is one thing the Japs do well is that they excel. The army of Race Queens may be quietly suffering under the intense heat; nevertheless these charming ladies are professionals and will not fail to please every photographer or every person who is equipped with some optical image capturing device for that matter. As you gaze into their mesmerizing eyes, behold their awesome and exotic beauty, experience their ever cute and ticklish voices and gaze at their jaw dropping captivating costumes, one would easily be overcome by a wave of joy and satisfaction sufficient enough to erase any thoughts of discomfort caused by Mother Nature.

Therefore we would like to invite all avid fans of portrait photography to make haste in purchasing your tickets as to not miss this grand event of the year. Let’s say you had a very good time last night and you guys took a lot of picture. Turns out it is very dark so you crank up the ISO to the highest and you’re able to take a numbers of them. Back to your computer, upon opening your computer, you found that… IT’S FULL OF NOISE! You panicked. You tried different technique to remove the noise, blur, smart-blur, etc but to no avail.

That’s where you let Neat Image program to remove the noise of your picture.

It has advance algorithm that remove noise, pixel by pixel and smoothen up the texture. If you own a digital camera and constantly use high ISO, you’ll definitely love the feature. Even not, if you’re working on a scanner and found a lot of noise artifact, Neat Image does the same towards scanned images.

I’ve been using Neat Image for a couple years now and I’d say that it’s one of the best I’ve tried. There are others such as Noise Ninja but somehow it doesn’t offer the same quality and effectiveness found in Neat Image. The reason for that is because it allows you to fine tune your picture without going into so much complicated process. Anyone that has rough experience with windows operating system should be able to use the program without much reading into the manual.

As you can see, you only have a limit of set of slides to set your image right. Do not let this simple set up fool you. With the right settings, your image would come out sharp, crisp and even noise-free.

The demo allows you to edit one image at a time. Advanced version allows you to apply batch processing and it’ll save you a lot of time if you have the luxury to pay for the Pro version.
