Gimp, Where’s My Copied Photo?
![]()
Did you know you can copy a picture from a website without saving it first? If you’re using Photoshop, you can right click on a photo and select Copy (in Internet Explorer) or Copy Image (in Firefox) and then back in Photoshop, click on File, New, and just paste the photo. The reason for this is because Photoshop monitors the cache and make the necessary resolution adjustment on the new file.

In Gimp, it isn’t that simple because Gimp does not observe your OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) unless being instructed to do so. So, in Gimp, after you’ve copied the image you need to click on File, Acquire, Paste as New. However, what ever you copied within Gimp would be monitored. Let’s say you copy a section of a picture, you can immediately click File, New and Gimp will automatically obtain the resolution of the copied photo.
